Dr. Maria Riedel DVM
Our hospital is run by a single doctor, Dr. Maria Riedel DVM, who is known for providing compassionate and personalized pet care services in the Portage Lakes area of Akron, OH. She has been practicing for over 40 years now.
Originally from Alliance, OH, Dr. Maria Riedel wanted to become a veterinarian doctor since childhood. After starting college at the Ohio State University, Dr. Riedel traveled to Germany to study veterinary medicine at the University of Berlin.
After graduation in 1980, she practiced in the Summit County area for many years before finally opening her own clinic in 1994.
Dr. Riedel enjoys quilting, jewelry making, art and reading. Her beagle mix, Andy, and her calico cat, Kitsy, are her companions for life!
Dr. Elise Weiland
Dr. Weiland, Lead Veterinarian, earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University in 2024 and then went on to a 1-year specialized internship in avian and exotic animal medicine. Her special interests include soft tissue surgery, feline medicine, and providing exceptional care for exotic mammals and reptiles.
Outside the clinic, you'll find her thrift shopping, creating arts and crafts, or dancing at Zumba. At home, she's kept busy by her beloved cat, Alfie, who definitely runs the household!
Dr. Heather Myers
Dr. Myers, Veterinarian, is a longtime friend and colleague of Dr. Maria Riedel and brings decades of veterinary experience, compassion, and dedication to patient care. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Akron in 1985 and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 1989.
What Dr. Myers loves most about veterinary medicine is building relationships with pets and their families. She enjoys getting to know each patient and owner, helping pets stay healthy, and supporting families through both the joys and challenges that come with their pets' healthcare journeys.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Myers enjoys painting, watching movies, walking in nature, and seeking out both new and classic roller coasters she hasn't had the chance to ride yet.
